How device biometrics work

Set it up while signed inGo to Biometrics & Passkeys from the header or profile prompt. Your device will ask you to confirm securely before enabling biometric sign-in.

Your device securely links sign-inEduThriftSA only enables the trusted device sign-in method for your account. Your biometric confirmation stays protected by your phone, laptop, or browser.

Use it next time you sign inOn the login page, enter your email or username, then select Use device biometrics. Your device verifies you and the system signs you in securely.

Set it up per deviceIf you want to use biometrics on another phone, laptop, or browser, add a new device from Biometrics & Passkeys after signing in.
For security, EduThriftSA cannot view or store your actual biometric data. That stays protected by the device/browser.
Legal Notice

End User Licence Agreement, POPIA and Security Notice

Please read this notice carefully. By signing in, you confirm that you are authorised to use EduThriftSA and agree to the platform rules below.

1. Authorised access

Access to EduThriftSA is limited to authorised staff, institutions, parents, students, and approved linked users. You may only use the account and portal area assigned to you. Sharing passwords, impersonating another user, or attempting to access another user's information is prohibited.

2. POPIA and personal information

EduThriftSA processes personal information for legitimate platform purposes, including account access, item registration, lost-and-found workflows, student/parent communication, reporting, security monitoring, and support. By signing in, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), platform policies, and applicable South African law.

3. Security and system protection

  • You must keep your login details confidential and secure.
  • You must immediately report suspected unauthorised access, suspicious activity, or lost credentials.
  • You may not upload malicious files, attempt to bypass security controls, scan, exploit, tamper with, reverse engineer, or disrupt the platform.
  • The platform may log access, IP address, device/browser information, activity history, and security events to protect users and investigate incidents.

4. Data accuracy and responsible use

You are responsible for ensuring that any information you capture, upload, approve, or submit is accurate and lawful. This includes learner/student records, parent or guardian details, QR asset information, lost item reports, signatures, payment references, and collection confirmations.

5. System availability and cyber incidents

EduThriftSA uses reasonable security and operational controls to protect the system. However, no online system can be guaranteed to be completely free from interruption, user error, unauthorised access, cyberattack, malware, hosting failure, connectivity issues, or third-party service disruptions. Where an incident occurs, EduThriftSA may restrict access, investigate activity, notify affected parties where required, and take reasonable corrective action.

6. Limitation and accountability

You agree not to hold the platform operator responsible for losses caused by your misuse of the system, shared credentials, incorrect information submitted by you, unauthorised actions performed through your account, third-party payment/provider interruptions, or events outside reasonable control. Nothing in this notice excludes liability where the law does not allow it to be excluded.

7. Acceptance

By signing in, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to this End User Licence Agreement, POPIA notice, and security notice. If you do not agree, do not sign in and contact your administrator or EduThriftSA support.
